A trader identified as Owais was shot dead when he offered resistance to robbery attempt here in Saddar's electronics market on Sunday. According to police and eyewitnesses, two robbers started looting in the market, and then opened fire upon resistance, killing the trader.
In the meantime the area people caught and beaten up one of the suspects and handed him over to police. While the other who had managed to flee the scene was allegedly killed in an exchange of fire with the police at M A Jinnah Road. The injured robber also succumbed to his injuries later.
The Electronics Dealers' Association announced to keep the markets shut on Monday to mourn the death of the fellow trader. Earlier in the day, a citizen ran over two suspected robbers as they tried to flee after looting him, killing one and injuring the other in Gulistan-i-Jauhar's Block 1. The citizen identified as Javed followed the robbers in his vehicle and rammed into them, killing one and injuring the other, the police said. Police said that the money and a cell phone had been recovered from the possession of the robbers.
