The Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) of the government of Sindh celebrated its Silver Jubilee with the theme "Hope on: Journey on" depicting the SEF's 25-year voyage. Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, was the chief guest while Sindh Education Minister Jam Mahtab Dahar was the host of the event where Members of National and Provincial Assemblies, bureaucrats, academicians, members of civil society and donor agencies largely attended. The program began with the national anthem sung by a choir comprising of students.
In her welcome address, Naheed Shah Durrani, Managing Director of the SEF vowed to strengthen education outcomes in accordance with the Sindh Government's vision. The SEF's documentary narrating the story of its voyage was screened. The SEF school partners spoke on their journey especially the efforts taken in last many years for the provision of quality education. Each of the initial, middle and modern eras of the SEF struggle was shared by a partner with the audience.
The event also included the groundbreaking launch by Murad Shah of the Foundation's android based e-learning software INSTAL (Introducing Smart Teaching and Learning). The INSTAL envisions deployment of software at school level through the provision of 21,000 tablet computers at 700 SEF-supported schools (@30 tablets per school).
The event also marked the launch of Biography of Professor Anita Ghulam Ali who was the founder of SEF and served the Foundation for 22 years. Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah commended SEF's role for strengthening the cause of quality education among the marginalized strata through building sustainable partnerships with the private sector in the province.
"In coming days, the Foundation is expected to play a robust role in post-primary education," he said, adding that it was envisaged that the Foundation would have at least 1000 post-primary schools to provide quality education across the province especially in remote areas in coming few years. He reaffirmed his government's commitment to overcome all impediments and improve access as well as quality of education across the province.
Sindh Minister for Education & Literacy Jam Mehtab Dahar congratulated the SEF on completing 25 years of its Journey. "Sindh government is giving closed schools to SEF in Thatta, Badin, Jamshoro, Sujawal and Dadu to for making it functional again through Public- Private Partnerships," he said. The Program concluded with a lively performance by the children on the theme of "Heal the World."
