The Chairman of the Water Commission of the Supreme Court, former Justice Ameer Hani Muslim has expressed his annoyance over the dumps of garbage and dead animals into the Phuleli Canal and asked the authorities concerned to clean the canal within seven days. Justice Ameer Hani Muslim on Monday visited the New Phuleli, Old Phuleli and Akram Wah canals as well as Hyderabad Filter Plants to determine the causes of deteriorating water situation.
During the inspection of the Phuleli canals, the Chairman Water Commission found garbage dumps and dead animals into the water and asked the Municipal Commissioner Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to remove all garbage dumps and dead animals from the canals and ensure the passage of clean water from there within seven days.
He also directed the imposition of ban on fishing in all three canals and said that action should be initiated against those who found in violation of such orders. He also directed the removal of all cattle sheds along the canals.
While visiting the filter plants and lagoons at Jamshoro, Preetabad and Latifabad Unit-4, former Justice Ameer Hani Muslim also expressed his dismay over the filtration of water and directed the officers of Hyderabad Development Authority and Water and Sanitation Agency to improve the performance of their respective departments and ensure the supply of safe and clean water to citizens of Hyderabad.
