Federal Minister for Defense, Khurram Dastgir Khan, has said that democracy is the biggest bulwark against terrorism. He briefed the experts about Pakistan's contribution in war against terrorism at Egmont Institute, Royal Institute for International Relations, said Foreign Office on Friday.
While briefing at Egmont Institute, Royal Institute for International Relations, on Pakistan's contribution to war against terrorism, Dastgir said that best protection against terrorism is a strong democracy.
The minister explained to the group of experts from the Belgian Foreign Office, Ministry of Defence, Counter Terrorism Department and Academics how Pakistan has borne the brunt of war against terrorism, not only in terms of financial resources but has also sacrificed nearly 70,000 lives of civilians and army personnel.
He said that peace in Afghanistan is imperative for peace in Pakistan and vice versa, adding that the involvement of Pakistan in any kind of peace process is necessary for attaining peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan.
