The Kashmiri people from both sides of the LoC and settled across the world observed fifth death anniversary of prominent Hurriyat leader Dr Muhammad Afzal Guru, who was sent to gallows by Indian authorities in Tihar Jail five years ago on this day ignoring all legal process. The Kashmiris staged worldwide protests against Indian atrocities and violation of all legal norms and human rights in IHK. People of AJK observed the day with a pledge to extend their all possible support to their brothers and sisters of IOK and play their role continuously in this regard.
The protest rallies were held in all ten districts of Azad Kashmir where protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with anti India slogans.
The processions and protest rallies were held throughout Azad Kashmir and in different parts of Pakistan by Kashmiris. They paid glowing tributes to Dr Afzal Guru and other martyrs who gave their precious lives for the freedom.
Different processions and rallies were taken out in AJK capital organized by different segments of society, political workers of various parties, Hurriyat leaders of AJK chapter, religious and human rights organizations.
The main public demonstration was held at Burhan Wani square near Central Press Club. The speakers while paying glowing tributes to Dr Muhammad Afzal Guru and other freedom fighters of IHK vowed to continue their moral and political support for Kashmiri people.
They stressed upon UNSC and all five veto powers to play their role in resolving long standing Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan and exerting pressure on India which is denying birth rights to Kashmiri people and their atrocities on Kashmiris for last seven decades.
The speakers terming the death sentence of Dr Guru as a judicial murder said that it was a slap on the face of Indian democracy and so called secularism.
They marked that Indian rulers have become morally bankrupt by denying Kashmiris their birth right and ignoring all human norms and international treaties.
The speakers termed Dr Guru and Shaheed Maqbool as the symbol of freedom and called upon the UN to stress India to handover the corpses of the both martyrs to Kashmiri people from Tihar jail in Delhi.
Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, Mushtaqul Islam, Shoukat Javed Mir, Shamsheer Khan, Fida Hussain Kiyani and Secretary Liberation Cell Idris abbasi and others also addressed the protest demonstration.
