Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar urged doctors, professors and medical superintendents of KMC hospitals to ensure punctuality on duty and pay full attention to providing best medical treatment to patients. He was talking to a delegation of KMC-run Sobhraj Maternity Hospital at his office on Monday.
The doctors urged the Mayor to release their months-long outstanding salaries and other dues with immediate effect. However, the Mayor assured the delegation to release their dues within the next three days so that they would perform duties with professional honesty and dedication. He also vowed to take action against the department's officials concerned for their negligence behind nonpayment of their salaries and dues.
Chairman Land Committee Syed Arshad Hassan, Chairman Medical and Health Committee Dr Naheed Fatima, Director Technical S M Shakeeb, and Medical Superintendents from different hospitals were also present on this occasion. The Mayor on this occasion asked Medical Superintendents of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation-run hospitals to ensure cleanliness, availability of medicine, proper care of under treatment patients, and better treatment facilities within their respective health facilities.
The Mayor said that medicines worth Rs 130 million being provided to KMC hospitals must reach to the patients. Special measures are also being taken to regularize the postgraduate doctors presently working on an honorary basis, the Mayor said.
