Dr Sikandar Shoro, Adviser to Sindh chief minister for information science and technology addressing the closing ceremony of the international conference on "Social Sciences and Information-Communication Technology (ICSSICT) 2018" at Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam on Wednesday appreciated the university for organising this successful event, which attracted leading scholars from country and abroad.
He said it is time to strengthen connectivity through IT with global community. He encouraged social sciences department to initiate further research in various fields specifically focusing on sustainable development goals, which may help the government to work to achieve global targets. Keeping in mind, the minister said the role of entrepreneurship is important at this era and the government must extend the support to this university, which is working with rural communities. He further said the provincial government is launching a scheme "E-governance for livestock", collecting information about livestock farmers. This scheme has been started and the results will come soon to expand it further, he added.
SAU Vice chancellor Dr Mujeebuddin Sehrai in his concluding remarks said they are receiving offers to sign MoUs with universities abroad for collaboration in various fields. 300 delegates, mostly scholars came to the conference. "We shall value our efforts. We shall move forward at every level to reap benefits for our cadre," he said, adding that this event portrayed global learning specifically on agriculture.
He announced to start Umerkot campus of Agriculture University, which will be fully equipped within one month. The similar institute agriculture engineering college in Khairpur will be started soon, which will benefit youth in the area. He said the recommendations of the conference will be submitted to the government's concerned authorities and will follow the same for its implementations. These recommendations will be taken carefully and seriously to implement the same. Professor Mustafa Kan from Turkey said this conference has contributed to highlight many things during two-day discussions in technical sessions and the government of Pakistan must realise the recommendations the conference has produced for well-being of rural communities. Dr Manzoor Soomro, Chairman ECO, said it will benefit the public, besides agriculture and social scientists.
Dr Zafeerullah Khan, agricultural scientist hailing from Banu, Khyber Pukhtoonkhuwa (KP) said this university (SAU) has diversity to accommodate students from all parts of the country, including KP, Balochistan, Gilgit and other areas. Dr Aijaz Khonharo, Dean Faculty Of Social Sciences, delivered welcome speech and shared contribution of his faculty, which has organised this successful event. Earlier during the day long deliberations many scholars has discussed various issues coming up to inspire scientists, technology and agriculture practitioners.
