Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao harshly criticised the PTI led provincial government for making the lives of the KP people miserable with inappropriate Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, saying that delay in the project development had triggered serious concerns now from the foreign construction company with several changes in the design.
He said this while addressing a public gathering here on Sunday in Shaheen Muslim Town Peshawar, wherein people from other political parties announced their joining in QWP. The new entrants entrust their confidence to the leadership and believed that QWP is the last hope for the people of KP. Sikandar Sherpao welcomed the new comers and asked to work on the party manifesto and extend their services to public welfare.
He said the initiative of Rapid Bus Project from PTI provincial led government was based on bad faith of the PTI provincial leadership as it was started with delay by keeping in view the election outcomes in mind for their person gains. He said the BRT project is an election campaign only which was not in the interest of people.
He lamented that due to lack of proper planning the provincial government had turn the city of flowers into the most filthy and dirtiest city. He said flopped BRT had caused billions of loss to the provincial exchequer of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which was already spent on 'beautification' of Peshawar. He said the real face of PTI leadership had been exposed to the people. He asked the national accountability bureau (NAB) to prioritize the investigations on the charges of corruption against involved Chief Minister and some ministers of the provincial government to expose them to public.
He added that provincial government was incapable and inefficient, "The chairmen of several institutions have issued charge-sheet against the KP government," he said. "But when their own Chief Minister and some ministers were found involved in corrupt practices, the powers of those institutions were curtailed through legislation," QWP provincial chief added. Sherpao vowed to strive hard for the rights of Pakhtoons to ensure their progress and development. He said QWP had emerged as the lone voice for the rights of the oppressed strata that's why the people mostly relied on it.
