Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Senator Sirajul Haq has said the era of political Brahmans and Pundits would end soon and the secular forces were unnerved by the revival of the MMA. He was speaking as chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony of the Markaz-e-Taleem-o-Tehqeeq, Sheikul Quran Maulana Abdul Ma'lik, gave way certificates to 32 students completing Takhasus in Fiqah on the occasion.
Sirajul Haq said British rulers in the sub-continent had destroyed the centres of religious learning and research. In the same way, the educational and research centres of the Muslims in Spain were set on fire. He said books of the Muslims scholars of the early era were available in the libraries of different European cities even now. He said when the British had arrived in the sub-continent; there were as many as 400 Madrassah in Thatha (Sindh) besides around 1,000 Madrassah in Delhi.
The JI chief said after the 9/11, the US forced Muslim countries to change their educational syllabi. In Pakistan, the Quranic verses on Jehad besides many others on different topics were dropped from the syllabi during Pervez Musharraf era under US dictation. He said the enemy was making plans to deepen sectarian division among the Muslims. However, he said Ulema had always strived for the unity of the Muslim Ummah. Sirajul Haq said the government did not have any vision regarding education. The youth were being made clerks.
He said the US ambassador at a function in Sukkur advised the students to drop the word Muhammad from their names as it was not acceptable for their computer. He said it was a pity that some of our ministers could not recite even Surah Fateha while some others did not know how to perform ablution.
He said around three and a half million students, both male and female, were on roll in Madrassah but the government had no budget for them although the government had budgets for the kitchens, orchards and stables of the ministers. However, he said the future lay with Islam. He said if the JI got an opportunity, it would enforce education emergency and raise the education budget from two percent to 25 percent as it was the government responsibility to educate very child of the country.
