Members of a local Peace Jirga Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other participants have vowed in a gathering on Tuesday at Tehsil Topi main city in district Swabi that they would continue their struggle for eradicating the menace of interest and underplay business from the district. They were speaking at Chehlum of Jehanzeb Khan who committed suicide in February after submerging in the interest money while the people were still demanding that he would pay the money with interest.
The Jirga members said that they have planned to established district wing of the PJ in district Swabi soon and their top priority would be uprooting the interest business across the area. Participants were informed that PJ members had curbed the interest business in Peshawar, Mardan and Charsadda and they had registered FIRs against the heavyweights. Same tactics would be adopted in district t Swabi.
Syed Kamal Shah, provincial chairman of the PJ said that the Jirga members would educate the people and those found involved in such business would be dealt according to the law of the land. "No one is above the law. The government had prevented such business strictly and acted against those who involved in interest business," he said. Arshad Manan advocate general secretary of the Jirga said that free legal support would be provided to the victims but those victims have to identify those who imposed their well on them and extracted money from them.
Rahimzada, PJ district Chairman Mardan, said that with the support of the government they continued their efforts. The struggle had proved very helpful because many people had given up the business and a number of families were set free from the clutches of the increased financial burden.
