President Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Ghazanfar Balour has appointed Former Chairman Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) Mahmood Moulvi as chairman of FPCCI's Standing Committee on "Rice Exports" for the year 2018. President FPCCI has advised that committee should hold at least one meeting in a quarter and a summary of action taken by the committee may be furnished to the FPCCI.
Mahmood Moulvi is associated with rice trade from last 15-year and has a vast experience in the rice and grains, shipping, cooking oil and stock business. He is Group Chairman of M M Group of Companies - one of the fastest growing professionally managed organizations founded in 1986. The group has diversified and progressed over a range of industries such as grains, oil seeds and meals, shipping and cargo services and poultry etc.
He has also served as Chairman REAP - the country single and largest association of rice exporters, in 2016-17 and made all possible efforts for the promotion of Pakistani rice in the world market to earn foreign exchange for the country. During his tenure, Pakistan rice exports posted an increase of 11 percent and reached 1.9 billion dollar by end of FY17.
He is well aware of the regional rice trade and visited several countries to represent the Pakistan rice sector on international forums. Moulvi has assured President FPCCI that he will make all possible efforts for the promotion of Pakistani rice.
He said that with improved commodity prices in the world market unit price of Pakistan rice is also increasing. "Pakistan is expected to achieve over two billion dollar rice export by end of this fiscal year (FY18)," he said.
