The Karachi Port handled 156,626 tonnes of cargo comprising 90,201 tonnes of import cargo and 66,425 tonnes of export cargo including 8,756 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 90,201 tonnes comprised of 57,478 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,491 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,125 tonnes of coal; 8,011 tonnes of DAP and 10,096 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 66,425 tonnes comprised of 44,584 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,025 tonnes of bulk cargo; 13,729 tonnes of wheat; 2,887 tonnes of sugar and 4,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 8,756 containers comprising of 4,529 containers import and 4,227 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,292 of 20's and 1,478 of 40's loaded while 39 of 20's and 121 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,122 of 20's and 583 of 40's loaded containers while 355 of 20's and 792 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Amalthea, Libra, Zante, Al-Mahboobah and Alexandrit carrying containers, chemical and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eight vessels viz. OOCL Shanghai, MSC Tiger, Piraeus, Tirua, Navios Verano, Hyundai Force, MT Karachi and Egret Bulker carrying containers, oil tanker and wheat respectively currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 177,776 tonnes comprising 140,903 tonnes of import cargo and 36,873 tonnes of export cargo including 2,886 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 140,903 tonnes includes 46,000 tonnes of LNG; 12,623 tonnes of diesel oil; 19,995 tonnes of palm oil; 2,027 tonnes of palm kernel; 21,356 tonnes of coal; 10,991 tonnes of mogas and 27,911 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 36,873 tonnes includes 4,486 tonnes of wheat; 5,464 tonnes of cement and 26,923 tonnes of containerised cargo.
There were three ships namely CV MSC Maria Elena, MT Maersk Bright and MT Thong Long carrying containers, palm oil and palm kernel respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two ships namely CV Amalthea and MV Sun Ploeg carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV MSC Maria Elena, CV Amalthea, MV White Fin, MV Riva Wind, MV Navios Achilles, MV IVS Windsor, MV Sun Ploeg, MT Maersk Bright, MT Magdala, MT Alpine Penelope and MT Thong Long were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, wheat, project cargo, coal, diesel oil and palm kernel respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen ships namely MV Sakizaya Setoshio, MV Ruby Star, MV Aris-T, MV Maritime Setoshio, MV Pacific Talent, MV Endeavour Strait, MV Aziziz, MV GH Citation, MT Maria-III, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Jo Pinari, MT Glorious, UACC Ibn Al-Hajiham and MT NCC Maha carrying soyabean, canola, clinker, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV Maersk Nicolis, CV APL Miami, MV Maritime Setoshio, MV Aris-T and MT NCC Maha carrying containers, clinker, canola and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There were nine ships namely CV Maersk Kinlos, CV Tempanos, CV APL Miami, CV Express Rome, CV CMA CGM Virginia, CV GH Chnook, MV Pan Glrois, MT Al-Shamal and MT Glorious carrying containers, steel products, LNG and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
