Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Najam Sethi on Monday said that the profit of this year Pakistan Super League (PSL) is crossing $5 million against the previous mega event which generated over $3 million. In an informal chat with a group of reporters after attending an in-camera session of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination, Sethi expressed the confidence that this year PSL's earning will cross $5 million.
About the in-camera session of the meeting, he said that the decision was made to keep the proceedings away from the media because some financial matters were being discussed and the audit pointed out by the audit department.
He said that he is not against the accountability process, but the audit paras were yet not finalized by the Auditor General of Pakistan. "It was inappropriate to release it to the media as the AGP has yet not released the audit paras. That's why the proceedings were kept in-camera," he said, adding that the PCB would upload on its website as well once the time comes.
On the reservations voiced by some quarters for not selecting Fawad Aalam in its 16-member squad for England, Ireland tour, he said that it is the decision of the selectors whoever they want to keep in the team.
"There are four selectors representing all the four provinces. Then it comes on the coach and the captain. It was a joint decision of all and I've nothing to do with selection of the players," he added.
"As chairman I will not interfere. They [selectors] are professional people...I am a manager that's why I don't any comment to offer on that," he added.
Sources said that the committee members posed critical questions on the audit reports of PSL-I and PSL-II and demanded complete details in the light of the queries in its next meeting of the committee.
They said that the PCB officials also briefed the committee on the financial rules of Pakistan Cricket Board and fixation of daily allowances of cricket players and the managing team.
