ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed here on Monday, terming Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project a revolutionary project, said it would resolve the mega city's transport issue.

The minister talking to media said the project was approved in August 2012, but due to the failure of former regimes, it could not be executed. He also sought provincial government's help to make the project a complete success in collaboration with the Railways ministry.

Responding to a question, he said Main Line1(ML 1) and KCR were sister projects and federal government was committed to complete these mega projects during its tenure.

Responding to a question, he said Main Line1(ML 1) and KCR were sister projects and federal government was committed to complete these mega projects during its tenure.

The Minister said KCR was the part of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which will cover all the city and would be linked to ML1 through Drigh road.

Sheikh Rasheed said claimed the project would prove a marvellous achievement of the government and helps strengthen the national economy.

The Minister also sought Sindh Government's help to remove encroachment along with the railway tracks.

He said that federal government would provide the land to Sindh government on minimum lease to rehabilitate affects of the operation.

Meanwhile, Sindh Minister for transport Awais Qadir Shah said that Sindh government would cooperate with Railways Ministry for the completion of longstanding KCR project.

He expressed that it was the responsibility of all stakeholders to show the unity and support to the government for the completion of this project for the public welfare. "There is no second opinion, it will be great success of the government and will provide minimum fare to facilitate maximum people," he remarked.
