The Karachi Port handled 234,771 tonnes of cargo comprising 161,141 tonnes of import cargo and 73,630 tonnes of export cargo including 5,252 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 161,141 tonnes comprised of 79,346 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,689 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,196 tonnes of canola and 73,909 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 73,630 tonnes comprised of 45,574 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,163 tonnes of bulk cargo; 538 tonnes of cement; 24,055 tonnes of wheat and 2,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,252 containers comprising of 2,574 containers import and 2,678 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 996 of 20's and 764 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 25 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 561 of 20's and 465 of 40's loaded containers while 309 of 20's and 439 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eleven ships namely MOL Earnest, Virgo, Xin Xia Men, MT Karachi, Nord Spring, Chemroad Sahura, Everrich-7, Clayton-II, Al Mahboobah, Viking Chance and Kong Que Zuo carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, bitumen, vehicle and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eleven vessels viz. OOCL Dalian, New Ark, Xin Xia Men, MOL Earnest, Virgo, Athens Bridge, Future, Everrich-7, MT Lahore, Viking Chance and Chang Hang Han Hai carrying containers, oil tankers, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 120,960 tonnes includes 38,300 tonnes of LNG; 1,112 tonnes of LPG; 16,390 tonnes of diesel oil; 36,226 tonnes of coal; 5,980 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 22,952 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 33,915 tonnes includes 33,915 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,993 containers comprising of 1,208 containers import and 1,785 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. There were three ships namely CV Prosper, CV Safmarine Nyassa and MT King Craft carrying containers and LPG respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning.
A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV Prosper, CV Safmarine Nyassa, CV MSC Pina, MV Dream Ocean, MV New Legend Ruby, MV Vindonissa, MV Amis Wisdom-V, MV Sakizaya Champion, MT King Craft, MT Loka Ja and MT UACC Ibn Al-Hajiham were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, soyabean seeds, coal, LPG, LNG and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fifteen ships namely CV MSC Vanissa, MV Crimson Empress, MV White Hawk, MV Royal Hope, MV Zhen Bang, MV Widyslans, MV Da Cia Yun, MV Pacific Valor, MV African Puff In, MV Islander, MT Al-Gharrfa, MT Maria-III, MT Maersk Magellan, MT Glorious and MT Constantnos carrying containers, soyabean, canola seeds, general cargo, coal, cement, LNG, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV MSC Vanissa, CV New Ark, MV YM Miranda and MT Al-Gharrfa carrying containers, chemical and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Monday. There were two ships namely CV New Ark and MV YM Miranda carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Monday.
