A considerable increase in prices of pulses, chicken, vegetable, flour, and others food items was witnessed in retail market, according to a survey conducted by the Business Recorder here on Sunday. The retail price of one-kilogram Dal Mash has gone up to Rs 160 from the price of Rs 120 per kilo, while rate of Dal Channa also increased as it is available at Rs 140 per kilogram, which was selling at Rs 110 per kilo in the previous week, the survey noticed.
Rs 5 per kilo was decreased in price of good quality Sela rice as available at Rs 140 per kilogram against Rs 145 per kg in the previous week. Price of Toota rice has remained unchanged as being sold at Rs 80 per kilo.
The survey further witnessed that price of big white Channa has gone to Rs 180 per kilo from Rs 170 per kilo in retail market, while price of white Lobiya also went up at Rs 140 per kilo against Rs 120 per kilo in previous week.
Likewise, Dal Green Chilka is being sold at Rs 140 per kilo, which was selling at Rs 130 per kilogram in last week. Rs 20 increase was witnessed in price of Dal Black Chilka, as available at Rs 140 per kilogram against the price of Rs 120 per kilo in the previous week.
Similarly, red bean is being sold at Rs 140 per kg, Dal Masoor at Rs 140 per kilo in retail market. A sizeable increase was witnessed in price of Dhoti Dal in retail market, as available at Rs 140 per kilo, against the price of Rs 90-100 in the previous week.
The retail price of gram flour (Baisan) has increased at Rs 140 per kilo, which was selling at Rs 120 per kilo in the previous week. Sugar price also increased in retail market as available at Rs 55 per kilo against the Rs 53 in the last week.
Prices of all brands of cooking oil/ghee remained unchanged in retail market as available within range of Rs 120-165 per kg/litre, while ghee is available within range of Rs 165 -Rs 185 per kg.
Chicken is being available at Rs 198 per kilogram, which was selling at Rs 176 per kilogram in last week, registering Rs 22 per kg in retail market, the survey said. However, the price of farm eggs remained stable as available at Rs 100 and Rs 90 in the retail market.
A visible decreased in price of tomato, onion, potato was witnessed in wholesale market, but many retailers are still fleecing consumers by overcharging them, the survey noticed.
Seasonal pushcart vendors are selling five kilograms of tomatoes at Rs 150 per kilogram or Rs 30 per kilogram, as compared to Rs 40 per kilo charged by regular vegetable sellers
Similarly, vendors are selling onion in retail market at Rs 40 per kilogram, while pushcart vendors are sold at Rs 20-30 per kilo. Around 5kg potato is being sold at Rs 100, while regular dealers are demanding Rs 30-40 per kg. Onion price is tagged at Rs 30 per kg while the seasonal retailers sell 2.5-3 kg onion at Rs 50.
Regular retailers said pushcart retailers were procuring low-quality vegetables. Cabbage price varies between Rs 40-50 per kg while cucumber price also hovers between Rs 30-40 per kg. Cauliflower is sold at Rs 30 per kg by various retailers while apple gourd, bottle gourd and ridge gourd prices range between Rs 40 and Rs 50 per kg.
The price of per kg lady finger in off season is tagged at Rs 80. Ginger is available at Rs 200 per kilo while garlic priced at Rs 100 and 150 per kilo depending on the quality,
Peas (old and new varieties) are being sold for Rs 40-50 per kg and Rs 60-80 per kg, while capsicum is being sold at Rs 50-60 per kg. Arvi is being sold at Rs 50-60 per kg.
Fresh milk is being sold at Rs 110 per litre, while yogurt available at Rs 110-120 per kilo in local market. Cow meat is being sold at Rs 350-400 per kilo, while beef available at Rs 700-750 per kilo in retail market.
Apple is available at Rs 150-200 per kilogram, melon at Rs 40-50 per kilogram, water melon at Rs 30-40 per kilo, strawberry at Rs 100-120 per kilogram, banana available at Rs 50-80 per dozen.
