Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday turned down the bail application of former IG Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali along with seven other co-accuseds in a case pertaining to illegal appointments in Sindh Police. Court also directed to arrest Ghualm Haider Jamali and others; however Jamali managed to escape from the court following the issuance of his arrest orders.
SHC resumed the hearing which has been framed against former IG Sindh and other officials for inducting 881 persons in Sindh Police in violation of prescribed rules and regulations. NAB submitted before the court that Sindh Police officials have been involved for illegal appoints in SRP Haiderabad. Apart from Ghulam Haider Jamali, Fida Hussian Shah, Meer Muhammad, Ghulam Nabi and others are involved in illegal appoints in police department.
Former IG Sindh's counsel while arguing in the court stated that Jamali had no hand in these appointments as these were made from 2012 to 2015 when Jamali was not chief of Sindh Police. He said Sindh IG at that time was not included in the inquiry pertaining to these appointments whereas Jamali in the capacity of IG Sindh didn't appoint a single constable in police force.
Counsel informed the court that his client conducted an inquiry into these appointments and even wrote to Sindh Chief Minister about it. Counsel pleaded that his client was wrongly implicated in this case, which clearly speaks of ill will of authorities.
SHC however, rejected the bail application of Jamali and other co-accused and ordered to arrest them. As the orders of his arrest were announced from the bench, Jamali managed to escape from the court, whereas other accused were arrested from the court.
