The MQM on Friday lambasted the ruling PPP for all 'destructions' in health, education, civic and road infrastructure and also blamed it for prejudices and biases against 'Muhajirs'. Muhammad Hussain Khan, MQM's senior legislator, who completed his 100 budget sittings during the Sindh Assembly session, blamed the PPP for all political, ethnic and civic ills in the province, saying that "It was the PPP which disintegrated Pakistan in 1971".
"What you have done [wrong] not only with the rural areas you have not even spared the urban parts," he told the treasury, saying, "that is the reason why cities never accepted PPP as political party".
The PPP always used 'fake sympathies' for coming into power but never delivered to the public, he said, adding that ruling party's primary focus has always been on 'corruption' and it has plundered the public development shares throughout its 10 years tenure. "I don't say. The Supreme Court and Auditor General's reports say".
He alleged the PPP for its 'biased' approach in Sindh, adding, "since the PPP inception till now it prejudices and biases continue". Nearly only 50 percent of a total 100 percent development budget is disbursed but hardly half of the released amount is spent in many areas of Karachi, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas.
"You [PPP] destroyed all the civic amenities providing departments after holding them," he said, adding that the PPP government even did not spare women, who held Holy Quran to their chests during the notorious Pakka Qila Hyderabad operation. He said that the Jeay Sindh Quami Mahaz terrorists imposed a ban on admissions of 'Muhajirs and Punjabis' in universities in Sindh that continued in PPP rule.
In 2007, former premier, Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi but people burnt 1700 vehicles in Karachi with raping women in different areas. The mob also plundered businesses, he said, adding that the PPP is responsible for Lyari Gangs that triggered widespread violence in the city. "Look at the JIT of Uzair Baloch and Zulfiqar Mirza," they will show it clearly.
"Well-done people for paying 32 different taxes to the government," expecting social, and physical security, healthcare and education," he said, adding that but usually what happens is against their hopes. "Here, don't people buy water, not appliances to treat water, 80 percent patients get treatment in private hospitals, 90 percent children take education in private schools, buy UPS, solar panels, and motorcycles to commute," Muhammad Hussain asked.
He thanked to the MQM's founder for allowing him to contest pool through the MQM platform, adding, "MQM gave me honor and I will never betray and would remain within its ranks. "I am firmly standing on the MQM platform and will remain with the MQM that also made me minister. I am thankful to Altaf bhai," he said.
In reply, PPP's Dr Sohrab Khan Sarki rejected Husain's speech, saying that "this assembly has already passed a resolution on Altaf Hussain for his anti-Pakistan remarks," and there is a legal binding to pronounce his name on the floor. Summarily, he termed the MQM's legislators' speech a 'drive' ahead of polls.
He said that the same city was full of terror, as no political party was permitted to hang its flags or banners. Even, he said, polling agents were being killed during polls and police. "It is wrong [speech]. We have forgotten all. Let's go together ahead," he said, alleging the MQM for creating conflicts among people. He said that the era of bloodshed and terror has gone as peace has restored to Karachi. He said that PPP has carried out a mass scale uplifting of the province infrastructure, as underpasses, flyovers and roads were established during its tenure.
