The Taiwan Flour Millers' Association has purchased 83,350 tonnes of milling wheat to be sourced from the United States in an international tender which closed on Wednesday, European traders said. The wheat was bought in two consignments for shipment from the US Pacific North West coast. The first consignment for shipment between July 5-19 involved 24,500 tonnes of US dark northern spring wheat of 14.5 percent protein content bought at $289.91 a tonne FOB US Pacific North West coast, traders said.
Another 11,750 tonnes of hard red winter wheat of 12.5 percent protein content was bought at $266.98 a tonne FOB and 6,200 tonnes of soft white wheat with 9 percent protein was bought at $227.41 a tonne FOB. The first consignment has an additional freight charge of $34.48 a tonne for ocean shipping from the US Pacific North West coast to Taiwan, they said.
The first consignment was all sold by trading house United Grain Corporation, they said. The second consignment for shipment between July 22 and Aug. 5 involved 22,500 tonnes of dark northern spring wheat of 14.5 percent protein content bought at $285.19 a tonne FOB. The second consignment also included 12,600 tonnes of hard red winter wheat of 12.5 percent protein content bought at $259.32 a tonne FOB and 5,800 tonnes of western white wheat with 9 percent protein bought at $212.37 a tonne FOB.
The second consignment has an additional charge of $36.49 a tonne for ocean shipping from the US Pacific North West coast to Taiwan, they said. The second consignment was all sold by trading house CHS, they said. In its last reported tender in April, the association bought 92,975 tonnes of milling wheat also from the United States.
