The Karachi Port handled 159,064 tonnes of cargo comprising 115,837 tonnes of import cargo and 43,227 tonnes of export cargo including 7,775 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 115,837 tonnes comprised of 57,069 tonnes of containerised cargo; 280 tonnes of bulk cargo; 28,754 tonnes of coal; 3,485 tonnes of soyabean meal; 16,662 tonnes of DAP and 6,587 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 43,227 tonnes comprised of 38,462 tonnes of containerised cargo; 385 tonnes of bulk cargo; 250 tonnes of wheat and 4,130 tonnes of talcum powder and 000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 7,775 containers comprising of 3,666 containers import and 4,109 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,642 of 20's and 989 of 40's loaded while 12 of 20's and 17 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 957 of 20's and 404 of 40's loaded containers while 610 of 20's and 867 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely APL New Jersey, Virgo, New Ark, Wan Hai-515, FPMC P Glory and Glorious Ace carrying containers, mogas and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. OOCL Shanghai, Bomar Hermes, Clemens Schulte, City of Shanghai, Golden Ray, Al Mahboobah, Mallard and Glorious Ace carrying containers, oil tankers, tug and vehicle respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 160,586 tonnes comprising 138,337 tonnes of import cargo and 22,249 tonnes of export cargo including 4,847 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 138,337 tonnes includes 17,179 tonnes of diesel oil; 4,900 tonnes of palm oil; 21,270 tonnes of coal; 9,569 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 4,555 tonnes of phosphoric acid; 9,567 tonnes of steel coil; 1,388 tonnes of LPG; 65 tonnes of other and 69,844 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 22,249 tonnes includes 22,249 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,847 containers comprising of 3,676 containers import and 1,171 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were two ships namely CV CMA CGM Indus and MV Melinda carrying containers and steel coil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships namely CV MSC Silvana and CV MSC Al-Gheciras carrying containers respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of eight vessels viz. CV MSC Silvana, CV MSC Al-Gheciras, CV CMA CGM Indus, MV Melinda, MV MG Hammand, MV Johanna Oldendroff, MV Unique Harmony and MT Omera Queen were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, soyabean seeds, coal and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seventeen ships namely CV New Ark, CV Maersk Pearl, MV Navios Centarus, MV Thassos, MV Avalon, MV Maritime Setoshio, MV IV Swindsor, MV Bravo-5, MV Inlaco Bright, MT Maria-III, MT Omera Queen, MT Iblea, MT Euro Strength, MT Komome Victoria, MT Al-Soor-II, MT FPMCP Eagle and MT Glorious carrying containers, steel coil, soyabean, coal, coal, wheat, LNG, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were seven vessels viz. CV New Ark, CV Maersk Columbus, CV MSC Aysa, MV Inlaco Bright, MV Bravo-5, MV Maritime Setoshio and MT Al-Ajnan carrying containers, wheat, coal and LNG expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There were four ships namely CV Maersk Columbus, CV MSC Aysa, CV Contilyon and CV Torrento carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
