The Sindh High Court on Thursday granted extension in the interim bail of Senator Raheela Magsi and sought the progress on the inquiry report from provincial Anti-Corruption Department against her in purchase of agriculture land and misuse of authority case.
A division bench headed by Justice Aftab Ahmed Gorar resumed the hearing on the application of Senator Raheela Magsi against the inquiry of Anti-Corruption Department Sindh. The department alleged that Raheela Magsi illegally acquired 274 acres of land in the name of her family members when she served as Nazima of District Tando Allahayar from 2002-2006.
Anti-Corruption Department submitted its reply in the court during the proceedings. The department submitted in the court that letters have been written to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and other departments to seek the details of assets of Senator Raheela Magsi. However, these details are not being provided to the department, the court was informed.
Anti-Corruption Department stated that the statement of Raheela Magsi has been recorded and inquiry is underway. The department needs more time to complete the inquiry against her, the counsel of Anti-Corruption Department pleaded.
Raheela Magsi contested Anti-Corruption inquiry against her and contended that this is being done as part of political victimization against her. Fake cases are framed against her for inviting former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif in a public meeting.
She stated that the inquiry was initiated in 2015 in a matter of ten-year old and termed it a pure political-based issue.
The bench accepted the application for extension in interim bail of Raheela Magsi and directed Anti-Corruption Department to submit the progress on the case by putting of the hearing of the case till August 8.
Meanwhile, a division bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) headed by Justice Aftab Ahmed Gorar sought the progress report from Sindh Home Department, Sindh Police, Sindh Rangers and others about recovery of more than seventy people to submit it on June 28.
The court showed resentment on for not publishing an advertisement about missing persons in newspapers and reprimanded DSP Korangi for not acting upon the orders of court. The court had ordered in February to publish an advertisement about a missing person namely Bilal but the orders have not been implemented so far, Justice Gorar remarked.
Justice Gorar reprimanded the police official and remarked when IG Sindh didn't implement our orders then what to talk about his junior. "We had summoned IG Police Sindh but he didn't appear on the pretext of going out of the city," the court stated.
Justice Ayaz Teenu said remarked that if the child of police official would have gone missing, then he would be acting like this. "Whether you ever tried to do justice with the uniform you are wearing," Justice Teenu stated.
The court observed that it seemed it has to give order to some other department to work on missing person case in the wake of inability of police to do this after investigation officer informed the court the JIT constituted in this case couldn't even trace this case.
