Punjab Inspector General of Police Arif Nawaz Khan has said that all possible steps should be taken by utilizing available resources for the security of 1620 'Majalis' and mourning processions on 'Yom-e-Shahadat' of Hazrat Ali (RA) on 21st of Ramazan.
Addressing a video-link conference of RPOs and DPOs here at the Central Police Office (CPO) on Thursday, the IG Police said special attention should be paid to the security plan of 'Youm-e-Ali' which should be prepared under the supervision of all DPOs in consultation with local administrators of "Majalis" and processions.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Muhammad Amin Wains, Additional IG Operations Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, Additional IG Special Branch Faisal Shahkar, RPO Bahawalpur Waseem Ahmed Sial, DIG Operations Lahore Dr Moin Masood and DIG Legal Abdul Rab along with other officers attended the conference while all RPOs and DPOs of the province also participated via video-link.
The IG asked the participants to provide four-layered security to sensitive districts and their 'A' category processions. He said no mourner should be allowed to enter the procession site without properly check by walk-through gates, metal detectors and physical frisking.
"Security of markets, banks and shopping centers should be beefed up in the last "Ashra" of Ramazan and patrolling timings of Dolphin and other patrolling squads should also be enhanced in order to control street crimes, he said.
Additional IG Operations Aamir Zulfiqar Khan informed the participants of the meeting that over 40000 police officials and volunteers will perform their security duties throughout the province on "Youm-e-Ali" while 261 walkthrough gates, 5382 metal detectors and 996 CCTV cameras will be installed for the monitoring of processions and Majalis.
CCPO Lahore Amin Wains and all the RPOs briefed the meeting about the security plan for the last Youm-e-Ali and Jumma-tul-Wida in their districts and regions. They told that steps have been taken for the safety and security of citizens and this task has been done under the supervision of senior officers.
"The security details for the VIPs should be according to the SOPs and the security mechanism in all the districts courts of the province should be improved further. No one should be allowed to enter the court premises without complete body search," the IG further instructed.
