The Punjab Agriculture Department (PAD), in a bid to increase area under sowing of pulses, has started providing lentil seeds on subsidized rates to the farmers.
According to a departmental spokesman, under the project, farmers will be provided approved varieties of Lentil seeds on subsidized rates. In this regard, farmers belonging to District Rawalpindi, Attock, Jehlum, Chakwal, Sargodha, Khushaab, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Chaniot, Gujraat, Mandi Bahud Din, Sialkot, Narowal, Nankana Sahib, Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Multan, Sahiwal, Lodharan, Khanewal, Vehari, Layyah, DG Khan and Bhawalnagar can apply for this subsidy scheme.
Farmers (Male/ Female) having land up to 25 acres may get application forms from office of Deputy Director (Ext), Assistant Director Agriculture (Ext) and Agriculture Officer (Ext) free of cost. Also farmers may download application forms from official website www.ext.agripunjab.gov.pk.
Farmers may submit their forms to office of Deputy Director Agriculture (Ext) of their district till 28th June 2018. Under this subsidy scheme, if number of applicants surpassed beyond quota in a particular district, then seeds would be given to those who will succeed in a draw. Spokesman further hoped that this project will prove a helping tool to increase pulses area in the Province.
