A full bench of the Lahore High Court Monday issued notices to former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for June 29 for disclosing minutes of the meeting of National Security Council to Nawaz Sharif.
The bench also issued notices to Nawaz Sharif and journalist Cyril Almeida, who published the interview of Nawaz Sharif against the national interests.
Earlier, the counsel for petitioner Azhar Siddique argued that the disqualified premier in his interview to an English newspaper said that "those who attacked at a hotel in Mumbai were actually belonged to Pakistan."
He said the anti-state statement of Nawaz Sharif could be used against the country by its enemies. He said a meeting of the National Security Council held to discuss the 'misleading' media statement of Nawaz Sharif and the then prime minister Abbasi met Sharif and conveyed to him the concerns of the military leadership and exposed the minutes of the meeting.
He asked the court to take action against Nawaz for trying to defame the state institutions through anti-state interviews and also against Pemra for allowing broadcast of the stuff.
He also sought action against former prime minister Abbasi for violating his oath by disclosing the minutes.
Meanwhile, the bench also reserved its verdict against two former parliamentarians of PML-N and four others involved in staging an anti-judiciary rally in Kasur. Earlier, lawyers of the contemnors tendered their unconditional apology before the court.
Contemnors former MNA Waseem Akhtar and former MPA Naeem Safdar, former municipal chairman Ayaz Khan, former vice-chairman Ahmad Latif, Nasir Khan and Jamil Khan were also present in the court.
