Sindh Caretaker Minister for Irrigation, Inter-Provincial Coordination, Public Health Engineering, Rural Development, Excise & Taxation, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah has said that several FIRs have been lodged against those who are found involved in water theft and strict action will be taken against those who dare to do so in future.
Presiding over a meeting of Sindh Irrigation Department, he directed all the concerned engineers to keep strict watch on canals so that no one could steal the water.
"We should take all possible measures to curb water theft because smooth supply of canal water to the growers is their basic right," he said. The Secretary Irrigation, Jamal Mustafa Syed, assured him that the department was fully aware of the situation and no one would be allowed to steal the water. Special Secretary (Technical) Engr Aslam Ansari also attended the meeting.
