Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has issued red warrants for former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to bring him back to the country in the chairman of Pakistan Television appointment case. The Supreme Court earlier summoned Dar to inform the court about his role in the appointment of former Pakistan Television Chairman Attaullah Haq Qasmi but he did not appear. Sources said that FIA issued red warrants against Dar following approval of Ministry of Interior.
Meanwhile, Attorney General for Pakistan Khalid Javed Khan informed three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, that the FIA had issued warrants against Dar. He informed the court that FIA has approached Interpol to bring Dar back to Pakistan, he further said.
They said that Interior Ministry following the approval directed the FIA's National Central Bureau (NCB) Interpol to review the red warrants and contact secretary general Interpol on immediate basis.
According to the procedure, the National Central Bureau (NCB) of the FIA examines the request approved by the minister of interior and collects required documents for issuance of red notice. The FIA sends the required documents for issuance of red notice to Interpol headquarters.
The Interpol's legal wing will review the request of Pakistan for issuance of red warrants. If the Interpol determines that the case is criminal then a Red Corner Notice will be circulated to police in 192 member countries for action against the accused.
