Qaumi Watan Party Chairman Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said that it was utmost duty of all institutions to focus attention on conduct of free, fair and impartial election and remove the faults if any in the process. Sherpao said that the caretaker government's prime responsibility is to maintain peace and conduct the elections in an impartial manner and strengthen democracy. He added that the other national issues like construction of dams should be left to the future governments.
He was speaking at a news conference at Watan Kor Peshawar on Tuesday, wherein Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf district member union council Baizai (Charsadda) along with relatives, party supporters quit PTI and joined QWP. The QWP chairman said some of the political parties had raised the complaints that they were not given the opportunity to run the election campaign, saying that the government and ECP should take steps to remove the environment of fear and doubts.
He said the caretaker government and ECP should take complaints of the candidates, politicians serious to provide them foolproof security and remove the impression that "another IJI was in the making" otherwise after the election an unending process of sit-ins, protest rallies would start. The party chief said that ECP was duty-bound to provide level playing field to all contenders in the July 25 general elections to prove its impartiality and avoid protests, sit-ins in case of any doubt regarding rigging in the polling process.
