Sindh Police Department, in compliance to Election Commission of Pakistan's directives, has chalked out an elaborate security plan for the 96,533 designated polling stations and their vicinity across the province on July 25.
Inspector General of Police (IGP-Sindh), Amjad Javed Salimi chairing a meeting to review police deployment plan for the province here on Sunday said that 100,599 policemen, including officers and staff, will realise their official responsibilities towards maintenance of law and order situation.
Security, he said will be the top most priority and this will be extended to all citizens, particularly the voters, polling staffers and the candidates without any distinction.
"There will be 76,533 cops on security duty for the day while another reserve force comprising 3900 policemen will be kept on high alert and could be called
any time, if and when needed," said the Sindh police chief.
Reiterating that Absolute implementation of Section 144 will be ensured, he said a total number of 2405 officers and staff are also part of province's election monitoring teams.
About the 100,599 cops deputed on security duty for the national elections day 2018, he said and added that 29,608 have been stationed in Karachi followed by 22,228 Hyderabad, 8772 in Mirpurkhas, 12,664 Shaheed Benazirabad, 12,707 Sukkur and 14020 in Larkana.
These included 23,463 at polling stations in Karachi, 16,483 in Hyderabad, 6475 in Mirpurkhas, 9652 in Shaheed Benazirabad, 9919 in Sukkur and 10,541 in Larkana.
Mentioning that 10,657 policemen have been assigned for patrolling, including 2933 in Karachi, 2579 in Hyderabad, 1023 in Mirpurkhas,1353 in Benazirabad, 1236 in Sukkur and 1533 in Larkana, there were said to be another 7104 for motorcycle patrolling.
