The Supreme Court on Friday hearing a case against allotment of plots of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on throwaway prices ordered the LDA to lease out its plots, presently occupied by petrol pumps, through a transparent auction. The Chief Justice directed LDA Director General (DG) Amina Imran Khan to hold the auction within fortnight and submit terms of references of the auction before the court today.
The CJP observed that the present occupants, if met the new terms and conditions, could be given the land on lease. He noted that the valuable plots in question had been given on lease for only Rs15000 per year. The CJP further directed the DG LDA to submit a report after the auction before the court for its approval.
A citizen, Abdullah Malik, had filed an application against the LDA for allotting its plots on throwaway prices illegally.
