ANP's General Secretary, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that the new National Assembly will be welcomed with strong protest, saying neither they had accepted the results of polls nor will accept the puppet prime minister.
In a statement issued after attending a meeting of Grand Alliance for Free and Fair Elections in Islamabad said that all political parties in their joint meeting have evolved complete consensus and the names of candidates for Prime Minister, Speaker and Deputy Speaker, have been finalized, which would be announced through the forum of the political parties.
The ANP stalwart said that strategy for protest campaign is ready and on which day the National Assembly begins proceeding then protest will also be started, which will be lodged even outside the assembly.
In first phase of the strategy, on August 8 protest will be staged in front of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), which will be participated by all political parties to register their protest against historic rigging in the polls. He said that senior office bearers and leaderships will also participate in the protest. The protests were carry placards inscribe with slogans in favour of the demands of joint opposition.
Mian Iftikhar Hussain has further said that the Grand Alliance has also unanimously decided holding protest rallies in the provincial headquarters of all four provinces and federal capital Islamabad. The schedule of those protest rallies will be announced in next few days.
He said that big political parties PML-N and PPP are also part of the protest campaign therefore, he said that now the success of these decisions depends on their behaviour. He expressed the hope that both political parties will feel their responsibilities at this critical stage to make the movement of grand alliance against rigging a successful.
Mian Iftikhar said that ANP is fully aware of the importance of alliance and despite meagre strength in parliament; they are bound to its decisions and will also carry their advocacy.
He said that the recent statement of NADRA has further clarified the situation that all what happened has been carried out under a planned strategy. He said that ECP has miserably failed in the performance of its responsibilities. He said that his application regarding recount of votes in his constituency has been rejected.
He added that his earlier re-accounting application was rejected by the Returning Officer (RO) and vowed to utilize every forum for the achievement of his right. He said that application for re-counting will be submitted under the law and constitution.
