The Supreme Court Thursday directed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to submit the details of facilities being provided to public hospitals in the province. Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, heading a three-judge bench, was hearing a suo motu case related to the condition of KP government hospitals.
The Chief Justice said that the board of directors of hospitals which included Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan's cousin Kiran Nowsherwan Burki violated the court order.
He remarked that the condition of hospitals in KPK is worst and for this Khan's counsel Burki is responsible, adding the BoD has violated the court order.
In Abbottabad Complex, an animal was in the operation theater, while the trauma center in Peshawar was non-functional.
A member of board of directors of KPK Hospitals, Faisal Sultan appeared before the court. He informed that the Board has been making efforts to improve hospitals' conditions, but the time was short. He said that the hospitals are in a dilapidated condition and bereft of modern facilities owing to the absence of funds.
The Chief Justice remarked what the KPK government had been doing in the last five years. If Shaukat Khannum is superb, why the government hospitals cannot be so. The CJP asked him not to exaggerate the performance of KPK hospitals.
He said that they would improve the health and education sectors at all costs. There is no cleanliness in the hospitals of Abbottabad and Peshawar, but the provincial government had been making tall claims that it has improved hospitals.
