The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) Sher Ayub Khan has formally inaugurated the beginning of civil work on Fruit Dehydration Unit (FDU) Swat. Those present on the occasion were included General Manager Out-Reach (GMOR)/Provincial Chief SMEDA, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Javed Iqbal Khattak, representatives of the Swat Chamber of Commerce and local traders.
The project is funded under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) being executed SMEDA, a subsidiary of the Ministry of Industries and Production (MoIP). The authority will also be responsible for both operation and maintenance.
The objectives of the establishment of a Fruit Dehydration Unit, Swat are to support the fruit growers in product diversification and value addition, introduce modern technology for bulk production of hygienic products and enable the existing marginalized processors to meet the international standards.
