Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Shahzad Akbar said on Monday that over 10,000 police officers will be deputed in the provincial capital to ensure security during Eid-ul Azha celebrations. "Over 10,000 cops including 14 SPs, 40 DSPs and 88 inspectors will discharge their duties during the Eid-ul-Azha celebrations in the city," the DIG said, adding that the plan has been divided into three categories i.e., A, B and C.
According to him, the cops will perform their duties at various markets, bus-stands, recreational spots and cattle markets to ensure security. He said the Eid prayers will be offered at over 7,500 mosques and 208 open places. The senior police officer said the personnel of Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU) and Anti-Riot Force (ARF) will also ensure security through patrolling, adding strict monitoring of sensitive worship places will be ensured to keep an eye on suspicious activities.
