Sindh police welfare fund: incentives to be brought on a par with Punjab's police
The Sindh Police's welfare fund and other incentives are being equalized with those of the Punjab Police. The approval in this regard came at the benevolent welfare board's meeting which was presided over by Inspector General of Police (IGP) (Sindh) Amjad Javed Saleemi, here on Tuesday.
As per details released from Director Press Sindh Police Office, the marriage grant has been enhanced from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 and if two marriages take place within a family then the grant would be enhanced up to maximum Rs 100,000. The retirement grant has also been enhanced and equalized to a one basic salary. Earlier, the grant under the same head was Rs 15,000 on retirement after 25-year service, and Rs 25,000 on 60-year retirement.
The students, would enjoy 100 percent scholarships on obtaining at least 65 percent marks or above in examinations. The financial aid for the patients suffering from chronic diseases has also been increased from Rs 100,000 to Rs 1 million. Similarly, on-duty officials who are facing legal issues/cases would also be given a grant of Rs 0.5 million. The officials who receive permanent handicap/ hindrance would be provided with special motorcycles.
The IGP has included an additional amount of Rs 200 million as incentives to the welfare of officers and jawans in the police welfare board. The widow fund is also being increased from Rs 3000 to Rs 5000 per month. The board also approved the online payment of widow fund from April 2018 to June 2018 to as many as 5518 widows of the Shaheed officials.
The board also directed the concerned officials to prepare the list of officials who died of accidents or normal deaths during the last three years within a week so that the department can determine compensation/financial aid to the bereaved families. It was also informed that the department is making its all out efforts to get life insurance of officers and jawans. Different insurance companies would be approached in this regard.
Sindh Chief Minister will also be requested to resolve the residential issues of policemen. The board members, Additional IGP Traffic, Additional IGP Sindh, Additional IGP Special Branch, CPLC Chief, DIGP Headquarters Sindh, DIGP Finance, representative of finance department Sindh, Director Gul Ahmad Textile Mills, and AIGs of Admin, Welfare, Operations (Sindh) attended the meeting.
