Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures neared a one-month low on Friday and ended lower for a fifth straight session amid sluggish export demand and easing concerns about global supplies, traders said. CBOT December soft red winter wheat settled down 5-1/4 cents at $5.36-1/2 a bushel after dipping to $5.35, its lowest since July 25. For the week, the contract lost about 7.5 percent.
K.C. December hard red winter wheat ended down 7-3/4 cents at $5.46-3/4 a bushel. The contract lost 7.6 percent for the week. Prices have dropped this week as recent concerns over drought-hit harvests in Europe and speculation over potential Russian export restrictions have faded.
