The Karachi Port handled 119,292 tonnes of cargo comprising 87,119 tonnes of import cargo and 32,173 tonnes of export cargo including 2,750 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 87,119 tonnes comprised of 35,585 tonnes of containerised cargo; 16,871 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,620 tonnes of rapeseed; 15,205 tonnes of DAP and 13,838 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 32,173 tonnes comprised of 1,732 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,241 tonnes of talcum lumps; 11,598 tonnes of talcum powder; 6,152 tonnes of wheat and 6,450 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 2,750 containers comprising of 1,916 containers import and 834 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 518 of 20's and 699 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows nil of 20's and nil of 40's loaded containers while 238 of 20's and 289 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were eight ships namely MOL Globe, Virgo, Northern Dedication, BW Amazon, Malhari, MT Karachi, Oriental Freesia and Liberty Passion carrying containers, oil tankers and vehicles respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. APL England, Virgo, Al Shroog, Rainbow Island-88, Liberty Passion, Pluto Leader, Ariadne and Shan Dong Hai Tohg carrying containers, oil tankers, vehicles and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 138,968 tonnes includes 17,000 tonnes of diesel oil; 59,000 tonnes of LNG; 42,735 tonnes of coal; 6,018 tonnes of soyabean; 915 tonnes of chemical and 13,300 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 37,221 tonnes includes 37,221 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,659 containers comprising of 700 containers import and 1,959 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. There was one ship namely MV Clipper Innovation carrying coal sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while four more ships namely CV Maersk Salina, MV African Jacona, MV Gas Odyssey and MT BW Amazon carrying containers, coal, chemical and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Maersk Salina, MV Royal Lady, MV Clipper Innovation, MV African Jacona, MV Navios Oriana, MV Cecilia-B, MV Gas Odyssey, MT Simaisma, and MT BW Amazon were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, condensate, coal, soyabean, chemical, LNG and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen ships namely CV MSC Medeleine, CV MSC Heidi, MV Dias, MV Orion-III, MV Sakizaya Miracle, MV GB Galileo, MV Darya Tiana, MT Brono, MT Maria-III, MT UACC Ibn Sina, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Hag Ship Tulip and MT Sun Ploeg carrying containers, soyabean, rapeseeds, coal, LNG, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. C CV MSC Medeleine, CV MSC Heidi, MV GB Galileo and MT Brono carrying containers, coal and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore and Coal Berth and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Monday. There are two ships namely CV MSC Tomoko and CV Maersk Kingston carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
