Chairman Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Syed Mustafa Kamal on Tuesday demanded that census in Karachi and Hyderabad be declared null and void and fresh census in both cities be carried out. Addressing a press conference here, he congratulated Imran Khan for his success in elections and being elected as Prime Minister.
Presenting his three demands, he said that a big excess has been committed with Karachi as the metropolis has been undercounted to 70 million which is below the original count. He demanded the prime minister to devolve powers to all four local governments to ensure complete division of resources.
Second demand he made that like National Finance Commission, Provincial Finance Commission should be constituted, adding that all four provincial governments should be authorized in terms of local government and devolution of powers at the lowest level. Thirdly, he demanded that youth of Karachi be granted amnesty, hoping that Maqbool Siddiqui will play his role with the legal consent of Farogh Naseem as Sardar Akhtar Mangal presented the case of his missing persons.
Kamal said that those who think that the PSP has diminished after 25th July elections will be disappointed as it has strengthened more. He announced to participate in the by-elections of national and provincial assembles' seats in Karachi. Kamal said that the Prime Minister should take notice of the excesses committed to Karachi as elections were held on the basis of incomplete and non-transparent census. He urged the prime minister to take notice of the issue.
He said that whenever the matter of provinces was raised in the past Imran Khan always supported the transfer of powers to provinces and local governments as it was the only way to resolve the problems of the people at the grass-root level.
He made it clear that the PSP is not doing any politics but just reminding the Prime Minister of the narrative he adopted in the past.
He assured full cooperation to new government to register a visible change in the governance.
