Advisor to Prime Minister on Parliamentary Affairs Dr Baber Awan appeared before National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the connection with Nandipur power project probe. The anti-graft body had authorized investigation against Dr Baber Awan, former Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, former Secretary Law and Justice Masood Chishti, former Secretary Shahid Rafi and former Director Ejaz Bashir for causing Rs 113 billion loss in Nandipur power project.
Sources said Awan appeared before NAB investigation team and recorded his statement. The NAB investigators questioned him for more than two hours. Awan rejected the allegations, they said. The NAB will submit its report before the Supreme Court of Pakistan after investigation into the matter. The apex court on July 7 last directed NAB to probe irregularities in the construction of the 525MW combined cycle power plant at Nandipur, Gujranwala.
