Punjab Special Secretary Agriculture (Marketing) Ehsan Bhutta has decided to transform 25 markets into model markets. These markets include fruit and vegetable markets of Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, DG Khan, RY Khan, Bahawalpur, Multan, Burewala, Kehror Pakka, Dina, Talagang, Depalpur, Pakpattan, Bhakkar, Samundri, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Kaacha (Lahore), Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib and Grain Markets of khanewal, Chichawatni, Sargodha and Piplan.
These model markets will have anti-dengue, fruit fly management measures and maximum tree plantation. A departmental spokesman said on Tuesday that these model markets will be free from any encroachment.
These markets will be under observation with no malpractice there. One of the case studies is fruit and vegetable market Gujranwala.
