The district police Hangu have made foolproof security arrangements to maintain peace and religious harmony during Muharram-ul-Harram especially on Youm-e-Ashur. As part of the security measures, a total of 4000 police personnel backed by paramilitary forces would be deployed at key positions in the district including worshiping places, exit, entry points and hill tops surrounding the city.
Moreover, pillion-riding, use of cellular phone, display of weapons and use of loudspeakers have also been banned to ensure peaceful atmosphere and observe the occasion with great sanctity and religious zeal. District Police Officer (DPO) Pir Shohab Ali Shah said the district police were committed to protecting lives and property of citizens and added no one would be allowed to take law into his own hands. He said a robust security plan had been evolved following consultations with relevant departments to ensure complete peace and avoid any untoward incident during the holy month of Muharram-ul-Harram.
He said that police teams and bomb disposal squad were regularly patrolling on designated routes and important places and carrying out sweeping at mosques and Imambargahs on daily basis to avoid any untoward incident. He said elite force and quick response force had enhanced frequency of patrolling at various places and watching people visiting hotels and inns, adding checking process had also been enhanced.
