The Supreme Court is set to hear a constitutional petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, seeking disqualification of incumbent Prime Minister Imran Khan, on September 24. The PML-N leader Daniyal Chaudhry had filed a petition against the incumbent prime minister under Article 184(3) of Constitution in May 2017.
A three-member bench, headed by the Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, also comprising Justice Umar Atta Bandial and Justice Ijazul Ahsan will take up Daniyal Ch petition. He made Imran Khan and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) as respondents, Daniyal Chaudhry took the plea in his petition that Imran was continuously lying to the nation on Panama issue.
"By lying to the nation he is violating Article 62 and 63 of the constitution and thus he is no more as 'Sadiq' and 'Ameen'," he added. Daniyal Chaudhry has urged the court to declare Imran Khan disqualified as member of the National Assembly for being no more 'Sadiq' and 'Ameen'. The petitioner has affixed newspapers clippings and videos of TV interviews of Imran Khan.
The same bench will hear a case related to extradition of former finance minister Ishaq Dar from the United Kingdom. The apex court has summoned him in the appointment of Attaul Haq Qasmi as chairman of PTV. In the last hearing, Attorney General for Pakistan Anwar Mansoor informed the court that the government with the relevant departments trying its level best to bring back Ishaq Dar and expressed hope that soon they will succeed in their efforts.
