Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan presided over a high-level meeting at the KP House in Islamabad and reviewed the case of the province prepared to be taken up with the Centre at the moot of the Council of Common Interest (CCI) to be held in Prime Minister's Secretariat where Prime Minister Imran Khan would chair today (Monday).
Those who attended meeting included: Adviser to the CM on Energy and Power, Himayatullah, Chief Secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch, Secretary Energy and Irrigation, Saleem Khan, Principal Secretary to the CM, Mohammad Israr and Secretary Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), Adil Saddique.
During the meeting, the chief minister was given detailed briefing on issues of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with federal government in different sectors. The meeting in particular thoroughly deliberated on the arrears in the head of hydel power generation and natural resources related issues, including oil and gas, Chashma Right Bank Canal (CRBC) Project and water related problems with federal government.
The meeting decided to approach concerned forums for payments in head of hydel power under AGN Qazi Formula and said that for guarantee unified and quality education, the higher education should remain in domain of the federal government. It said that the seven-member committee comprising of one member from each province and also including Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Higher Education should finalize recommendations in connection with the introduction of unified and quality curricular at national level.
The chief minister said that the share of water of any province that is utilized by other provinces should be compensated. Similarly, he also stressed on the unified policy of the organizations working for guaranteeing standard of quality, food quality under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Furthermore, he said, Workers Welfare Board and Employees Old-Age Benefit Institute (EOBI) should also remain under the management and control of federal government. The devolution of these organizations to provinces will create problems.
He said that labourers of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are working in Punjab, Sindh and other areas while province is facing financial constraints. Therefore, he said, the province should be paid its due share with immediate effect to utilize it for sustainable developmental planning. The chief minister said that the provincial government intended to initiate tourism, industrial, hydel power, mineral resources development projects for sustainable economic development of the province.
