Bid to smuggle 17 tons of betel nuts foiled

Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Gadani on Tuesday foiled an attempt to smuggle 17 tons of betel nuts from Quetta to Karachi. According to details, credible information was received that some unscrupulous elements were planning to transport huge quantity of contraband betel nuts to Karachi from Quetta. Reacting to this information, the MCC Gadani after strict surveillance intercepted two trucks and recovered 17 tons of betel nuts, concealed in apple crates, after physical examination. Consequent upon recovery of betel nuts, drivers were taken into custody and further investigation was underway.
