Hamdard Naunehal Assembly: 'Public support vital for defeating enemy'

Colonel Mukhtar Ahmed Butt (retd) has said our enemy tried hard to create differences in our nation on the pretext of sectarianism, extremism and regionalism. "We were not so fully prepared in 1965; even then, we defeated the enemy's army, but now we are fully prepared; an atomic power as well. We will inflict humiliating defeat on enemy if the latter again makes a mistake of attacking our homeland, he said, speaking at a meeting of Hamdard Naunehal Assembly on the theme: 'Defence of the Homeland and Education.'
Butt asserted that defence of the country is a responsibility of the armed forces but they cannot be able to fulfill it without public support as was done in the war of 1965 when whole nation stood like a wall behind the armed forces. He said nation had surmounted these difficulties and would get over these obstacles with the promotion of education in the country.
"Martyr Hakim Mohammed Said was the first person who had visualized the value of education and done a lot of work for spread of education as he had built a city of education, science and culture - Madina-tul-Hikmah in which education is being imparted from class I to university level," he said, adding that Hakim Said always emphasised on education, simplicity and Pakistanism.
He said if nation follow his principle of 'simplicity and Pakistaniyat' and make its system of education in accordance with the 'Educational Report' submitted by him, no one can stop Pakistanis from becoming a strong and developed nation.
Hamdard Foundation Pakistan's president Sadia Rashid said that the today's war was being fought through latest war strategies and modern technologies and these technologies could be achieved only through education, so it was responsibility of the government and all of us to give best education and training to our children and youths as our religion also emphasized on acquiring education and knowledge.
