The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) late last night sealed a famous restaurant and imposed heavy fine on two bread manufacturers due to breach of the PFA law. According to details, the PFA sealed a famous food point (Yasir Broast) over the worst condition of hygiene issue, abundance of insects and using poor quality oil for frying purpose.
In addition, the PFA raided Sunny Bread and Dawn Bread located at Township Industrial Estate and imposed Rs200,000 fine each on both the facilities. It also served a warning notice to both factories for bringing improvement within three days and warning of a strict action in case of violation.
This was revealed by Muhammad Usman, Director General PFA, who headed the raids along with Punjab Food Minister Sami Ullah Chaudhry. Usman further said that the Authority imposed a fine of Rs0.2 million on Sunny Bread over failure to maintain temperature of cold store, unhygienic condition of freezers and failing to produce record of filters and water.
He added that Dawn Bread was charged with a heavy fine due to improper cleanliness arrangements and non-complacence with the PFA's instructions. Speaking to media, the Minister said that the purpose of the late-night operation was to check food safety standards. He said the PFA is ready to do work around the clock for provision of quality and hygiene food in Punjab.
