The Karachi Port handled 136,140 tonnes of cargo comprising 107,430 tonnes of import cargo and 28,710 tonnes of export cargo including 4,346 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 107,430 tonnes comprised of 31,945 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,264 tonnes of bulk cargo; 12,633 tonnes of DAP and 54,588 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 28,710 tonnes comprised of 11,870 tonnes of containerised cargo and 16,840 tonnes of clinker. As many as 4,346 containers comprising of 2,215 containers import and 2,131 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 742 of 20's and 664 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 72 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 301 of 20's and 297 of 40's loaded containers while 550 of 20's and 343 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were six ships namely Kota Karim, Clemens Schulte, Chemstar Yasu, Oriental Marguerite, Glovis Century and Magnum Force carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. Barbara, Xin Hong Kong and Mymph carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 37,183 tonnes comprising 20,995 tonnes of import cargo and 16,188 tonnes of export cargo including 1,634 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 20,995 tonnes includes 1,712 tonnes of LPG; 1,350 tonnes of palm oil; 1,655 tonnes of palm kernel; 1,420 tonnes of bitumen and 14,858 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 16,188 tonnes includes 16,188 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,634 containers comprising of 782 containers import and 852 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were two ships namely CV MOL Globe and MV Royal Princess carrying containers and bitumen respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while four more ships namely CV MSC Pina, MV Rainbow Ivy, MT Caspian Gas and MT Mid Falcon carrying containers, palm kernel, LPG and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV MOL Globe, CV MSC Pina, MV Royal Princess, MV Sea Vine, MV Dias, MV Rainbow Ivy, MT Caspian Gas and MT Mid Falcon were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, bitumen, condensate, soyabean, palm kernel, coal, LPG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen ships namely CV Torrente, MV R Ocean, MV Basic Brave, MV Sea Vine, MV Acolian Heritage, MV Hercules Ocean, MV Harmann-S, MV Elizabeth, MV Agria, MT Maria-III, MT Ghrisopig Lady, MT Stena Premium and MT Rebecca Schulte carrying containers, steel, bitumen, condensate, soyabean, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV Hugo Schulte, CV Torrente, MV Basic Brave, MV Harmann-S and MV Elizabeth carrying containers, steel and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Iron Ore and Coal Berth respectively on Thursday.
There was one ship namely CV Hugo Schulte carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while two ships namely CV Qingdao Tower carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
