The Accou-ntability Court hearing corruption case against former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar Monday reserved its judgment on National Accountability Bureau's request for auction of his (Dar's) moveable and immoveable properties that will be announced today (Tuesday). Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir reserved the verdict on NAB's plea after Prosecutor NAB Imran Shafiq submitted the compliance report of notices issued by the court regarding seizure of Dar's properties and completed his arguments. The court will announce its verdict on October 2.
While arguing before the court, Shafiq said that it has the power to order auction for properties of the accused. The accused can approach the court till six months after the seizing of his assets, he said, adding if he does not approach the court then his properties can be sold out.
"So far the accused has expressed no objection and even if he appears before the court after the selling of assets then the court can grant him his rights," he said.
Shafiq submitted the details of the seized assets before the court. According to the NAB, Dar and his wife have accounts in different banks in Islamabad and Lahore. The accused owns three flats in Dubai, a house in Lahore's Gulberg along with four plots, four other plots in Islamabad and three Land Cruisers in Pakistan.
The prosecutor also informed the court that Dar is a shareholder in three Dubai-based companies while his wife owns six cars in Pakistan. "Dar and his wife have also invested Rs 3,453,000 in Hajveri Holdings (PVT) Limited," he added.
