The inaugural Shangrila Scrabble Champions Trophy will be played at Arts & Science Academy from October 5 to 7, 2018. According to announcement made by Pakistan Scrabble Association, the Shangrila Champions Trophy is an invitation-only tournament comprising the top 26 players in Pakistan based on the national ratings. However, no less than five current and former national champions are in the race for the title.
A total of 27 games will be played over three days and the winner will be awarded the Shangrila trophy. A cash pool of Rs. 85,000 is allocated for this elite tournament. The tournament is arranged to give valuable practice for the players ahead of the World Scrabble Championship scheduled in Torquay, England on October 20-28.
