Islamabad High Court on Thursday adjourned the hearing for one week in a petition challenging the appointment of Ali Jahangir Siddiqui as Pakistan's Ambassador to the US. A single bench of IHC comprising Justice Athar Minallah conducted the hearing of a petition challenging the appointment of Ali Jahangir Siddiqui as Pakistan's ambassador to the US and adjourned hearing due to non-availability of Siddiqui's counsel.
Advocate Shahzad Siddique Alvi filed a petition through his counsel Sajeel Sheryar Swati and Chaudhary Hasan Murtaza Mann and made the federation of Pakistan through secretary Cabinet Division and foreign secretary, Prime Minister of Pakistan through his principal secretary and Ali Jahangir Siddiqui, as respondents.
In the petition, the petitioner sought the high court to set aside the nomination of Siddiqui for being "ultra vires of the law, Constitution and policies" and direct the government to withdraw the "impugned order."
