The meeting of PML-N Central Executive Committee is to be held today at Jati Umra to devise future strategy over arrest of party president Shahbaz Sharif by NAB in Ashiyana Housing scam case. Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif who has decided to play an active role in politics once again will preside over the crucial meeting.
According to sources, members of Sharif family held an internal meeting at Jati Umra on Sunday in which Hamza Shahbaz and Salman Shahbaz briefed Nawaz Sharif about their father's 10-day physical remand under NAB over court's orders. They termed the arrest of party president and leader of the opposition in the National Assembly just days ahead of by-polls as 'unacceptable'.
In a resolution tabled in the Punjab Assembly PML-N parliamentary party has warned the PTI government that protests will be carried throughout the country if Shahbaz Sharif is not released before by polls. The resolution stated that below-the-belt tactics are being used to save a failed government. Meanwhile the opposition parties condemned the arrest and termed it as political revenge. The PPP senior leader Khursheed Shah said the arrest is the contempt of parliament.
